He has provided food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. Psalms 111:5 CSB
For I will forgive their wrongdoing, and I will never again remember their sins. Hebrews 8:12 CSB
How often I forget what God remembers and remember what God forgets. Here’s what I mean. I struggle with my sin and many times struggle to shake the burden of it. I’ll confess it then pick it right back up and question why I did what I did or walk defeated because of regret. I remember what God says He forgets when I confess and repent (Hebrews 8:12).
On the other hand, how often I forget the grace of God through Jesus Christ that forever secures His love to me and a home in heaven. When doubts enter my mind or I question my faith, I have forgotten a covenant God has made with me through His son Jesus. I forget what God forever remembers.
Today praise God in Christ Jesus that He remembers and He forgets what we lack in both areas. Herein lies just another reason to rest in His sovereignty and providence. Jesus is our Sabbath–we rest in Him! Amen.
