Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory because of your faithful love, because of your truth. Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven and does whatever he please. (Psalm 115:1-3 CSB)
Our worship matters. It matters because it reveals to “the nations” whom we are trusting in. If you were to keep reading is Psalm 115 you’d notice that the Psalmist talks about the idols whom have no hands, no feet, no mouth, no throat. Thus, idols cannot respond, nor do they grant the faithful love and truth that Yahweh God does!
What we worship matters. Are you worshipping the things of the world or the one true, living God? Let’s take it a step further, are you worshipping the Creator or the things the creator has made and given to you? If it’s anything else other than Almighty God, it will fail you, even though for a season of time you experience a unique euphoria. Then the world will say, “Where is their God?” as our own little world crumbles to pieces, because we’ve focused and worshipped the wrong things.
